JOHN PAUL II INSTITUTE

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest”

(Matthew 9:37-38)

The John Paul II Institute is JP2FNE’s response to God’s call for a collaborative effort to evangelize the disaffiliated, especially young people, and to form them as disciples. The Institute is committed to the formation of parish evangelization leaders, campus missionaries and other missionary disciples. We offer an integrated formation process that equips and empowers missionary disciples to evangelize in parishes, college campuses, and other settings, and to form intentional and missionary disciples one on one or in small groups.

Collaboration with Parishes

The John Paul II Institute helps parishes fulfill their mission of evangelization. The integrated formation we offer equips intentional disciples to become missionary disciples who form other missionary disciples. It is our hope that the latter form still other missionary disciples and, over time, the number of missionary disciples in parishes be multiplied again and again. Parish leadership can then send many teams of parishioners on evangelization missions to neighborhoods, college campuses, hospitals, prisons, and other venues.

Contemplative Missionary Discipleship in Community

We believe that the spiritual life is the soul of the apostolate. One thing is necessary– union with Christ (Luke 10:42). In community, missionary disciples committed to a simple Plan of Life find support for the spiritual life and are empowered for fruitful mission. The community meets virtually and in person for prayer, teaching, small group conversation, skills practice and missionary activities in collaboration with parishes.

Certificate in Missionary Discipleship

The John Paul II Institute offers a Certificate in Missionary Discipleship to its members. The pastoral and spiritual theology courses offered are not for academic credits. However, the formation produces missionary disciples who are well equipped to form other missionary disciples who will, in turn, form still other missionary disciples. Continued participation in community provides ongoing formation and support to sustain their apostolic fervor.
