CERTIFICATE IN MISSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP

The John Paul II Institute offers a Certificate in Missionary Discipleship to pilgrims recommended by their Pastor.  Commitment to our core values, to the process of conversion, to communion with fellow pilgrims and to actually evangelizing is required for admission.

 

PHASE ONE: SPIRITUAL FORMATION (10 weeks)

 

I. Missionary Discipleship Foundations

  • Overview of Missionary Discipleship
  • The Gospel and personal response
  • Identity as a redeemed son/ daughter of God
  • Our core values, conversion and communion
  • Freedom in Christ

 

II. Salvation History and the Sacramental Mysteries

  • God’s covenants with His people and how Jesus fulfills God’s promises and calls us to mission
  • Mystagogy of Baptism, Reconciliation and the Eucharist and total self-gift in exchange for God’s

 

III.  Discipleship and The Christian Spiritual Life

  • The overall process of conversion and the unique stages of spiritual development
  • Living in the presence of God
  • The Spirit-filled life and fruitful missionary discipleship
  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit and Gifts of the Holy Spirit

 

  

PHASE TWO: MISSION MADE POSSIBLE (7 WEEKS)

 

Genesis Mission Method of Evangelization.

 

The pilgrims’ conversion process continues as they reflect on the person and character of Jesus and His mission, eternal salvation, the mission of the Church and our personal mission.

 

Finally, they learn the practical aspects of how to evangelize.  They put their learnings into practice as they go forth and evangelize with the support of mentors and their discipleship community.

  • Connecting and engaging in meaningful conversations about God sensitively, appropriately, gently, respectfully, confidently and without fear
  • Soul-listening and responding as led by the Holy Spirit
  • How to overcome obstacles to actually evangelizing
